“Passion Days” at Brisbane Airport Corporation

We teamed up with long-term client Brisbane Airport Corporation to create an interview-style chronicle for their annual ‘Passion Days’ project – a hackathon-style event that brings together 200+ team members from across the organisation to engage with social issues through their diverse skillsets, creativity, and innovation.

The Brief

The ‘Passion Days project’ is a key annual learning and development event for BAC’s People & Culture unit. Engaging us for single-day event coverage, the P&C unit required a film asset that captured both the spirit of the team, and a narrative that positioned the corporation as an innovative, forward-thinking employer of choice.
As a long-term client, we’ve earned a certain level of trust with BAC - for this project, minimal briefing and conceptual development before film day was an approach our client was comfortable taking. Leaving the strategic narrative up to us to curate meant that we honed in on the objectives for asset’s use, landing on an interview-style format to shape the film in post-production.

Finding the Interesting

Keeping our gear light so that our team could be agile always helps us blend into the hustle and pace of events, to capture candid moments of B-roll footage which later came together with client-supplied media.
In amongst filming, we scoured for potential talent to feature in quick off-the-cuff interviews. We approached a few passionate individuals who we could see were deeply impacted by participating in the event, prompting them with targeted questions to facilitate a discussion on the culture of BAC, and the importance of bringing the team together through the community outreach program.
Back at the office, our challenge was working through eight hours of footage, audio, and client-supplied media, to find the hidden gems that crafted an authentic story of BAC’s culture through the eyes of its employees.

Creative Output

With a single event budget, our team delivered an interview-style video asset, a short two weeks following the event. It’s clear that working in continuous partnership with us helps BAC produce cost-effective, multi-use digital assets to brand, and with the flexibility for minimal client involvement in pre- and post-production.
